The Sheriff's Advisory Council is a group of 37 citizens randomly picked to advise the sheriff on how to improve operations in the office. The citizen board discusses a wide variety of community concerns at its quarterly board meetings. The selected citizens are not connected to the sheriff's office in any way and, as needed, a council member participates in the sheriff's hiring panel.
