Winter Storm Alert

The following is from a e-mail feceived this morning at 8:35 a.m. sent by D. Scott Hudson, Deputy Coordinator, Lancaster County Department of Emergency Services.

At 0800 this morning, a conference call was conducted with the National Weather Service - Wakefield Office.

Lancaster County is now under a Winter Storm Warning. This storm will be similar to last weekend's storm. The storm will intensify on Wednesday when the majority of the accumulating snowfall is expected. There are a couple of changes from yesterday's forecast.

Lancaster County can expect later this afternoon/evening 1 - 2 inches accumulating snow and potential of .10" of ice. On Wednesday, an additional

3 - 4 inches of snow can be expected.

Winds will increase to 25 - 35 mph with gusts of 50 mph and continue until Wednesday night.

Minor flooding for low lying areas is possible with this storm.

Power outages due to downed trees and power lines are possible, please take the necessary precautions.

We encourage all residents to ONLY venture out in the event of an emergency.

Use extreme caution when traveling.
